Film about the idea of the American garage, from an Urbanism and Film class at Cal Poly Pomona. The class investigated hybrid and informal spaces, which are spaces used in some way other than their original use. By definition, a garage is meant for storing cars, but is used for many other things.

In this film, I created a place for art. Some of my paintings and other art give an idea of what could be in the art gallery or small museum. As well as being an art gallery, there would also be areas for eating and listening to music as I try to convey in the film.

Other Earth is a plan of urbanism as a rhizome. The nodes of the rhizome are individual nomads, living a technologically advanced, self-sustaining lifestyle. They wear their Tentative Architectures on their bodies and live in environments defined by invisible infrastructures.

At the beginning of 2009 the “new” homeless had to find ways do deal with the loss of their “personal infrastructure.” Many moved into knew and temporary infrastructures provided by some cities. These shantytowns became known as “Tent Cities”.
